Catalog

This course provides a survey of the properties of human languages and their systematic study in the field of linguistics. This course provides the groundwork for future studies of language and communication in a broad range of disciplines: modern languages, communication, education, artificial intelligence, health, speech therapy, business, philosophy, sociology, anthropology and many other disciplines. No prior course work or exposure to linguistics is necessary. We will begin with the basic assumptions that are shared by those who study language from a variety of perspectives.
