Teaching Elementary Physical Education

Catalog description

This course is designed to explore the teaching-learning process and develop teaching skills in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate physical education programs in the elementary school. Issues such as diversity, curriculum development aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning, interdisciplinary teaching through physical education, behavior management, teaching techniques, and assessment of learning are discussed. A field teaching experience with PreK-5 students is included. Course fee: $15. Prerequisite(s): Admission to teacher preparation program or permission of instructor.
