Responsive Classroom Management for Elementary Learners

Catalog description
This course examines classroom management techniques, policies, and practices for cultivating positive and supportive learning environments across a variety of elementary contexts. Teacher Candidates practice techniques for rules, routines, and procedures that actualize appropriate use of pace, materials, transitions, and space. The course focuses on collaborative, school-wide opportunities for utilizing ongoing, positive behavior supports, trauma-sensitive teaching, and multi-tiered behavior interventions that target functions of behavior. The successful completion of an embedded field-related experience is required. Prerequisite(s): ELEM 360 and ELEM 380 , both with a grade of C+ or higher, and admission to Teacher Candidacy Corequisite(s): ELEM 440 and ELEM 460
