Catalog description

This course introduces Preservice Teachers to major conceptual frameworks, resources, and strategies related to equity-driven approaches for diverse learners, families, and communities. Preservice Teachers will explore competing explanations and solutions to opportunity-outcome academic gaps in education. A focus will be on using place-based learning to foster culturally-sustaining instructional practice, in addition to effective communication and collaboration with diverse families and community stakeholders. The successful completion of an embedded field-related experience is required. Prerequisite(s): ELEM 220 OR SPED 202 , either with a grade of C+ or higher Corequisite(s): ELEM 240 OR SPED 275
