Introduction to Remote Sensing

Crosslisted With: GEOG 383 This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and techniques for studying the Earth using remotely sensed data from satellite observations. The course takes an environmental approach to understand how satellite observations contribute to a wide range of investigations on land use change and natural phenomena. In the course, we will explore the (i) history and development of remote sensing techniques and equipment, (ii) fundamentals of physical science necessary for Earth observation, (iii) methodologies for collecting, processing, and analyzing remotely sensed data, and (iv) emerging trends in the field. 3 lecture and 1 lab credit hours. Course fee: $30. Prerequisite(s): GEOG 275
