Catalog description
A comprehensive overview of the operational and organizational aspects of a medical practice, covering key topics such as diagnostic testing, record management, patient communication, and HIPAA regulations. Students taking the course will receive a thorough review of medical terminology and an exploration of legal and ethical problems frequently encountered in a clinical setting, equipping them to work as a medical scribe. Students will concurrently enroll in an intentionally paired internship experience ( BIOL 492 or BIOL 494 ) involving healthcare shadowing and training. Interested students should contact the Pre-health Director or Department Chair. Prerequisite(s): Permission of Department Chair Corequisite(s): BIOL 492 or BIOL 494
