Introduction to the Techniques of Substance Abuse Counseling

Catalog description

This course provides students with a foundation in basic techniques of counseling the substance abuse population. Students will receive a comprehensive overview of chemical dependency treatment and explore various counseling intervention methods. The qualities and professional skills for competent and effective practice will also be thoroughly examined. Pre-requisites: SWK 601, 602, 611, 612, 613, 621, 622, 701, 702 and 798 OR must be active in the Advanced Standing Social Work student group.
