Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the basic theories and principles of alcoholism and substance abuse counseling, as well as techniques for motivating the chemically dependent client to engage in treatment. Emphasis will be placed on the theories of vocational counseling and the relationship between work, self-esteem, and recovery. Pre-requisites: SWK 601, 602, 611, 612, 613, 621, 622, 701, 702 and 798 OR must be active in the Advanced Standing Social Work student group.
