consequences of family violence across the lifespan and its impact on children. It presents theoretical, research, policy and practice issues involving intra- familial child abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence, child witnessing of intimate partner violence, and elder abuse. it explores individual and group level interventions, structural influences on family violence, and policy implications in the field of social work. In addition, the course will emphasize rights to safety and safety planning for populations at-risk within the context of social justice with an emphasis of how interdisciplinary approach can assist in the empowerment of survivors of abuse. Pre-requisites: SWK 601, 602, 611, 612, 613, 621, 622, 701, 702 and 798 OR must be active in the Advanced Standing Social Work student group.
