Methods of Community Health Education

Catalog description
Students will learn to effectively communicate health education information and strategies that have positive and lasting effects on the health behaviors of individuals and communities sensitive to the culturally diverse aspects of each individual and/or community. Students will initiate and conduct patient and family education on safety and infection control, home care and equipment, smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, and the management of asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and neuromuscular disorders. This course is open only to matriculated Respiratory Care students or those with permission of the Program Director. A letter grade of "C+" or better is required for graduation. Prerequisites: RC 202 and RC 207.
