Catalog description
Neuroscience takes place during the Fall semester of the first year of the DPT program. The basic structure, organization, and function of the nervous system within the context of rehabilitation are presented in a classroom setting with an emphasis on problem-oriented learning to encourage active student participation and clinical decision-making. An emphasis is placed on neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of the sensory and motor systems that govern posture and movement. A rehabilitation framework is built on the fundamental relationship between normal structure and function, damage and dysfunction, sensory processing and integration, motor control, posture and balance. Student must be a Physical Therapy major in order to register for this course.
