Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics This course presents an overview of the medical, neurological and psychiatric conditions which commonly occur during the life span of adolescents, adults and the elderly, building upon prior course work in the basic science curriculum and growth and development. Students develop an understanding of medical and psychiatric conditions, the etiology, signs, symptoms and prognosis. Implication for the person's occupational roles and performance are examined. Occupational therapy practice is discussed with focus on the process of screening, assessment, treatment and reassessment. In addition, the influence of culture, ethnicity, health care policies and gender and its impact on occupation and health promotion are examined across the life span.
