The Advanced Practice Role

This course provides an opportunity to critically examine the advanced practice role within the context of a rapidly changing health care delivery system. The role of the primary care nurse practitioner is explored from historic, legal and professional perspective. The processes of interdisciplinary collaboration and policy development are discussed. Strategies for proactive leadership and decision-making are also examined. Critical thinking, group dynamics, leadership skills, and role of the APN as educator are studied and modeled in classroom experiences, field experiences, and course assignments. A corequisite of NUR 620 is required
