Surgical Elective

Catalog description
The Surgical Elective is specifically designed as a 5- week clinical rotation in a particular discipline of surgery providing students with exposure to and training with male and female patients in inpatient and outpatient surgical treatment settings. The clerkship focus is on the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients presenting with surgical conditions; students will participate in outpatient and inpatient consultations and pre-operative, intra- operative, and post-operative surgical patient evaluations and procedures. Each student is assigned a clinical site and preceptor at the inception of the clinical year. Prerequisites: Successful completion of the didactic year of the Physician Assistant Studies curriculum. The pre-requisites of MS 504C, 508B, 511, 512, 513 and 514 are all required.
