Catalog description

This course introduces students to the role that entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial thinking plays in decarbonizing economic development and prosperity. Using an experiential case study-based approach, the course exposes students to a range of established and emerging entrepreneurs who are developing integrated and scalable eco-positive enterprises in key sectors such as food, energy, housing and transportation. Through these case studies, the course explores alternatives to fossil fuel dependency, developing models that promote genuinely sustainable development. The course also builds students’ capacity to envision, plan and execute new projects. Students work in collaborative partnerships with local people in the countries in which the course is taught, engaging with sustainability problems and politics, developing grass-root solutions in cross-cultural teams.
