Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Implementation

Catalog description
This course will describe the market around the Internet of Things (IoT), the technology used to build these kinds of devices, how they communicate, how they store data, and the kinds of distributed systems needed to support them. In this course, the state of the art in communication, networking and data collection technologies for the IoT will be introduced through a series of theoretical lectures and laboratory projects. The lectures will cover the main steps in the data path, including data acquisition, local data processing, data communication, data stream, data storage & cloud and data analytics. In the laboratory sessions, students will work individually to realize a specific application of the IoT. Three credits; two-hour lecture and two-hour laboratory. Prerequisites: AI 260, ENGR 371, and ENGR 450
