Catalog description

An introduction to the processes by which machines simulate intelligence. Topics include knowledge-representation techniques, including the predicate logic, state space problem formulation, logical reasoning methods, exhaustive and heuristic search strategies, rule-based production systems and examples of expert systems. PROLOG programming explained comprehensively. Each student is required to implement a small rule-based system in PROLOG. Three hours lecture, one hour laboratory. The pre-requisite of CS 217 is required.
