Catalog description

An introduction to the fundamental concepts of operating systems: architectural support and operating systems interface; system calls; and process structure, concepts, management, interprocess communication, threads, memory management and virtual memory, file system interface and its implementation. Case studies from UNIX and Windows NT are examined. Three hours lecture, one hour laboratory. The pre-requisite of CS 217 is required.
