Catalog description
Bacteriology Lab Component - An introduction to the biology of Bacteria and Archaea with consideration of the principles and practices of bacteriological techniques. Laboratory techniques include use of the light microscope and preparing various stains, culture preparation and sterile technique, biochemical assays for carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, and identification of environmental and medically significant isolates and environmental factors affecting growth. Three hours of laboratory per week. Pre-requisites BIO 122 or BIO 124; Co-requisite BIO 209L. 1 credits Co-requisite: BIO 209.
