Catalog description

First semester of a two-semester lecture sequence (BIO 123, BIO 124). A presentation of the nature of living systems and the fundamental principles governing their creation in relation to current problems affecting the maintenance of life on earth. Special emphasis is placed on the interaction of biological and cultural evolution and the alternatives to extinction that challenge contemporary human beings. Three hours of lecture per week. Co-requisite BIO123L. 3 credits. A co-requisite of BIO 123L is required.
