Catalog description

This course will introduce students to the electronic health record (EHR). This class is designed for students that have not previously used or have limited exposure to an electronic health record. In the class, students will be developing strategic initiatives and regulatory policies based on information standards to achieve data integrity. Also, data from the EHR will be used to create meaningful presentations. The topics covered in this class will be EHR documentation requirements, clinical decision support, data retrieval, SAFER Analysis, communication in the EHR, Health Information Exchange (HIE), and EHR quality improvement.
