Senior Capstone: Experiential Learning in Applied Psychology

Catalog description

The capstone experience integrates theories, empirical research, and practical applications of psychology to address real-world psychological issues across various domains such as health, education, work, community, and technology. Students will engage in a significant individual project that synthesizes their learning and demonstrates their competence in psychological theory, research methods, ethical practice, and communication. Projects may involve an original research project, a practicum experience, an internship, or a needs assessment that draws on their academic training to solve applied psychological problems. Students will present their work through both written and oral formats, culminating in a final academic portfolio. Students will engage in critical reflection about their academic journey, professional development, and future career or graduate study pathways. Prerequisite: 18 credit hours from any combination of CCJ, HFS, PHS, PSY, REC, and/or SOC courses. Students may also count MTH 14100 or MTH 24100 towards this total of credit hours; senior standing.
