Political Economy

Catalog description

At the heart of political economy is a focus upon production and the use of labor and capital. Classical economic writers such as Adam Smith and David Ricardo, as well as more modern era writers such as Joseph Schumpeter and John Kenneth Galbraith, have addressed the relationship of labor and capital to production. These writers, as well as others, and various theories, such as utilitarianism, capitalism, socialism and “the new economy,” will be addressed in this course. Prerequisite: ENGL 17000 .
