Introduction to Epidemiology

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the basic science of public health– the study of the distribution and determinants of health and disease in different human populations. This course provides the background, basic principles, and methods of public health epidemiology. Students will apply basic statistical principles to explore disease frequency and measures of association. This course will cover experimental and observational epidemiologic study designs, an overview of the disease transmission cycle, outbreak investigations, screening, and causality. Prerequisite: PHS 20000 with a C or better; MTH 14100 or MTH 24100 .
