GE-Human Culture: Religion Rapid change in religious thought and practice occurred in Europe during the 16th century, giving birth to the Protestant and Catholic traditions as we know them today. We will examine these developments in the context of the Late Middle Ages by considering how historical events and earlier writings may have influenced those thinkers, what the historic impact of their ideas has been, and how Roman Catholicism responded to the Reformation at the Council of Trent. Prerequisite: ENGL 17000 or concurrent enrollment or three credit hours of PHRL courses.
