This course is the first of two courses that together cover the didactic component of the Critical Care Paramedicine Curriculum. At the end of the two courses, students will have the didactic knowledge to sit for IBSC Critical Care Certification examinations. Critical Care Paramedic I covers the following 12 topics: Medical Legal Issues, Patient Safety, Flight Physiology, Patient Assessment, Respiratory Management, Airway Management, Pharmacology, Laboratory Analysis, Shock, Resuscitation, Advanced 12-lead ECG Analysis, and Hemodynamic Monitoring. Prerequisite: Current Paramedic License/Certification or approval by the Paramedic Program Director.
