Catalog description

This course examines common practices and music theory structures in popular music since 1900. Primarily, the genres of jazz, pop, rock, and funk will be explored in detail. Areas of music theory covered include, contemporary analysis, modal interchange, chord scale theory and nontraditional chord structures. Prerequisite: MUS 24201 .
