Music Production Practicum

Catalog description
This is an intensive, hands-on practicum focused on developing professional technical proficiency in studio and live production. Students will gain advanced experience by serving as technical staff for various projects. The course emphasizes practical application in audio recording, editing, mixing, and mastering within a studio setting, as well as live sound reinforcement (including setup, system tuning, and mixing). A key component involves the technical video production of live events, covering camera operation and basic post-production skills. This course prioritizes the accurate, competent, and confident operation of industry-standard equipment and software in high-pressure, real-world environments. This practicum must be completed eight times (for a total of 8 credits) for completion of the Music, BA Music Production Emphasis. Repeatable: May be repeated for a maximum of 12 credit hours. Prerequisite: Approval of instructor.
