This course traces the transformation of the American West and how the realities and myths of westward movement shaped us as a nation. We will explore the clashes of culture with each wave of migration into the trans-Mississippi West along with the role and effects of the environment in western development. Prerequisite: ENGL 17000 with a C or better; junior standing.
