Catalog description

This course studies the human body’s response and adaptation to physical activity. Specific attention will be directed at the musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and endocrine systems. Both acute responses and chronic adaptations to exercise within each system will be discussed. Students will develop an understanding of methods used to examine and measure physical fitness/ sports performance and understand terminology to effectively communicate this information to others. Students will explore the importance of physical activity and exercise in a healthy lifestyle and examine how science disciplines can be used to improve overall health, as well as performance in sports. Prerequisite: BSC 22800 or HFS 20700 . Corequisite: EXS 31600 .
