Catalog description

Ecological risk assessment (ERA) is a process for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and information to estimate the likelihood of undesired effects on plant and animal species. The primary purpose for conducting ERAs is to provide information needed to determine if chemically contaminated sites should be considered for remediation. This introductory course presents a survey of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s preferred stepwise approach of problem formulation, chemical exposure, ecotoxicological effects, and risk characterization. Prerequisite: BSC 23400 ; CHM 23200 ; CHM 24200 ; senior standing.
