Geospatial Methods for Environmental Sciences and Ecology

Catalog description

This project-based course applies geospatial techniques to research questions in Environmental Sciences and Ecology. Through lectures and lab exercises, students will explore examples/case studies ranging from geomorphology, watershed hydrology, ecology, soils, vegetation, land use/land use cover changes, water stress, riparian zones, and natural hazards, such as floods. Students will conduct hands-on activities using available GIS software, remote sensing tools, database resources and satellite imagery to address environmental and biological questions. Prerequisite: GEO 20000 .
