Catalog description

GE-Communication Have you wanted to delve more deeply into a specific genre of writing, creating your own portfolio of poetry, or developing several short stories, or even beginning that novel you haven’t gotten around to writing? In this course, you will engage in focused study and practice of a specific genre in creative writing (including but not limited to poetry, short fiction, play/screen writing, or novellas/novels). You will study various approaches and works by notable writers in said genre as well as create your own original work for this class. You will workshop with invested and engaged fellow writers, and you will receive the support and encouragement you need to submit your works for publication. As topics vary, you may take the course for additional credit whenever it is offered with a different focus. Repeatable: May be repeated for a maximum of 6 credit hours.
