Catalog description

Education Law and Ethics provides educational leaders with an understanding of the legal frameworks and ethical principles that govern educational practice from K-12 through higher education. This course equips EdD candidates with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate complex legal landscapes and make principled decisions in diverse educational settings. Students will explore foundational legal concepts, including constitutional, statutory, and case law, as they relate to issues such as student rights, teacher responsibilities, special education, equity, discipline, and institutional governance. The course will also examine ethical dilemmas and decision-making models that educational leaders encounter, emphasizing integrity, equity, and professional responsibility.
