Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be an effective teacher of science and engineering. This course is designed to immerse students in learning experiences that will provide them with a robust understanding of science and engineering teaching and learning from the perspective of both learner and teacher. Though this is not a science content course, model lessons that exemplify science competencies elementary teachers are expected to achieve related to unifying concepts and processes, science as inquiry, physical science, life science, earth and space science, science and technology, science in personal and social perspectives, and the history and nature of science and engineering will be used. Students will focus on engineering design and will develop an understanding of engineering pedagogies and learning environments.
