Middle/High School Differentiation and Classroom Management

Catalog description

This course will require teacher candidates to examine and implement differentiated instruction in diverse middle school and high school classroom settings. The teacher candidate will examine the roles of teachers including consulting and collaborating for cooperative teaching situations. The teacher candidate will also explore the demands and techniques of classroom management including: building classroom community and culture, establishing classroom systems, maximizing instructional time, management of learning materials and physical space, and the use of positive reinforcements. The student will examine various methods of differentiation and the importance of culturally responsive teaching and student engagement. Teacher candidates will create and teach multiple differentiated lesson plans. Teacher candidates will also create a comprehensive classroom management plan. Prerequisite: EDU 21501 ; EDU 32100 . Corequisite: EDU 38000 .
