Foundations of K-12 Literacy Administration Organization

Catalog description

This course will enable the student to develop an understanding of the role of the literary specialist in the development and support of a district’s literacy program. Topics include theories, research, legal and ethical issues that drive the development of a district’s literacy program, and communication skills required for the articulation of the program to stakeholders. This course will explore the connection of reading/writing across ages, abilities, and curriculum. The students will apply the learned skills to the function and role of the effective faculty and staff development leader, supervisor of reading specialist/literacy coaches, curriculum coordinator, and administrative team member.
