Information Literacy

Catalog description

This course will examine the principles, practices, and critical thinking skills necessary to effectively evaluate and locate diverse information sources in a digital world. Students will learn how to effectively seek out and vet information from multiple sources as well as understand the forces that shape the flow of information. This course will cover contemporary topics, such as copyright in the digital age, the influence of algorithms and filter bubbles on the flow of information, and the impact of open source technology on established informational institutions. Prerequisite: ENGL 17000 .
