Catalog description

This course relates major principles in biology to the microbial world. Primary emphasis is on prokaryotes and viruses. Both general and health-related applications of microbiology are studied to project microbiology into the clinical setting and emphasize its importance in healthcare. Laboratory activities will illustrate the procedures used in the isolation and identification of microbes, as well as the principles of asepsis and disinfection. Prerequisite: BSC 24400 ; CHM 23200 with a C or better.
