Catalog description
This course provides students with the knowledge and training necessary to function as an emergency medical technician (EMT). Topics covered will include pathophysiology, pharmacology, airway management, respiration, artificial ventilation, and common sports-related emergencies. Students will also complete clinical rotations with EMT’s and paramedics. This course meets the requirements to apply for registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and to apply for an EMT license in the State of Missouri. Prerequisite: Acceptance into the athletic training program; permission of faculty.
