GE-Human Culture: US History/Government/Human Diversity Why do African Americans feel it is necessary to assert that Black Lives Matter? Is there a difference between being Black and being African American? In this course, you will explore four hundred years of the African American experience from an historical perspective that traces the evolution of African American identities, cultures, and politics. Topics include the place of African American history in the African Diaspora, the relationship between African American and African cultural identities, and post-emancipation racial inequality in the United States. Prerequisite: ENGL 15000 or placement in ENGL 15000 or EPP 15000 or placement in EPP 15000 .
