Political Theory II

Catalog description

Whereas the first part of Political Theory was devoted to the study of classical political philosophy, the second part will focus explicitly on the nature and evolution of modern political theory. Political philosophers and theorists discussed in this course include, among others, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Hegel, and Marx. The following themes will provide the analytical foundation of the course: political obligation, freedom, liberty, equality, alienation, democracy, socialism, and the relationship between society and the individual. Prerequisite: POL 1001
