Catalog description
This course includes the study of advanced harmony, chromatic alterations, modulations, analysis of masterworks and original compositions, problems in elementary counterpoint and keyboard harmony. Prerequisite: MUS 2005 MUS-2009 Music Data Analytics 4 credits (Fall Only) This course will teach the basics of music theory along with data-driven techniques that help drive consumer engagement. Students will gain experience using the librosa Python library for Music Information Retrieval and other common statistical analysis tools in Python. Students will also learn the practical music terminology necessary to perform data analysis in the music industry. The course is largely lecture-based in the first half, transitioning to project-based once the foundational knowledge has been laid. Prerequisite: CSC 1051
