Catalog description

This course will cover how drugs act and affect the nervous system, behavior, and mood. Foundational concepts in neuroscience (neurons, synapses, synaptic transmission, action potentials, and neurotransmitters) will be reviewed. Issues surrounding drug abuse, dependence, and addiction will be discussed. The course will also cover the neuropharmacology and drug treatments of psychiatric and neurological illnesses, disorders, and disease. Prerequisite: BIO 2021
