This timely, innovative, and relevant course for human services professionals addresses shifts in policy and practices devoted to equity and inclusion. Inclusionary politics is subsumed and driven by sociolinguistics and cultural practices that includes or excludes constituents. Due to systemic oppression, communities of color are typically excluded from opportunities and not offered resources that would empower them to experience a different kind of life satisfaction. From a social justice perspective, this course teaches human service professionals how to initiate and facilitate conversations that are inclusive of all parties as well as help them address sensitive issues of conflict. From equity and inclusion dialogue emerges liberation and emancipatory practices that are collaborative, engaging, and transformational. Human services professionals will have an opportunity to develop leadership and conflict resolution skills that are welcoming and affirming for the constituents they serve.
