Grant writing and fundraising are two cornerstones for commencing and maintaining human service agencies and institutions and sometimes administrators and practitioners lack the necessary skills to effectively communicate their mission, vision, and objectives. As a consequence, these agencies have to suspend or stop services which leaves their constituents vulnerable. Thus, this course focuses on grant writing and fundraising strategies for human services practitioners in a field that has had an increase in providers and a decrease in number of grants procured or resources offered through philanthropy. By reviewing and completing several requests proposals (RFPs), students will have an opportunity to improve their writing and oratory skills so that their presentation is professional and in accordance with best practices.
