General Biology I

Catalog description

This course provides an introduction to fundamental concepts of biology with emphasis on the basic unit of life, the cell. Topics addressed include the origin, structure, and diversity of cells and living systems; the molecular basis of life, cell function and energetics; cell reproduction, and classical genetics. Students may register for accelerated sections of this course (eight hours of lecture and four hours of lab per week) and its sequel, BIO ll2, allowing them to complete their biology requirements for admission to the Doctor of Chiropractic program in one quarter. Required for students continuing in bioscience/health curricula.
