This course explores the physical, social, emotional, speech and language, and intellectual development of children. Its focus is on the individualized instruction and approaches needed to address differences in children (such as socio-economic status, cognitive challenges, etc.) and life experiences and family structures that may affect learning or student achievement (substance abuse, trauma, child abuse and neglect, and other family disruptions).
