Investigates wired and wireless networking data transmission from the physical through the application layer, including a comparison of the OSI and IP models. Investigates software and hardware networking functionality including theoretical foundations; topics include: data and packet transmission, LAN and WAN architectures, internet communications concepts, operating system architecture, protocol layering, application software inter-process communications, and socket-level programming.
