Catalog description

An advanced study of plant physiological processes and plant-pathogen interactions. Topics include plant metabolism, hormone regulation, water relations, mineral nutrition, photosynthesis, respiration, growth and development, and stress responses. The pathology component covers disease principles, pathogen biology, host-pathogen interactions, disease cycles, and integrated disease management strategies. Emphasis is placed on understanding molecular mechanisms, experimental design, and practical applications in agriculture and horticulture. This course is designed for advanced biology majors and pre-professional students preparing for graduate studies or careers in plant sciences, agriculture, or related fields.
